18th Century Market in Isokyrö

Genuinely "old-fashioned"

On the second weekend in August every year, the 18th century comes alive at the Isonkyrö Market. The event is genuinely “old-fashioned”: the sellers are all craftspeople, everything is made by hand, reared or bred at home and the performers are travelling singers and musicians. Stalls are decorated in traditional styles and the sellers are dressed in 18th century costumes.

This nurturing of heritage has borne fruit: the 18th Century Market in Isokyrö is a well-established tradition for many residents of the Vaasa region, as well as visitors. In its present form, the market has been organised since 1994, attracting more than 20,000 visitors to the old church area in Isokyrö.

Cheerful market activities, all kinds of delicacies, musical performances and the unique setting guarantee an enjoyable time even for the most demanding of visitors. Children can enjoy fun activities designed in the spirit of old times, and the various exhibitions in the area will leave nobody cold. The ferocious battle of Storkyro, which resolved the Great Northern War, has been re-enacted at the market and more historic shows will be given in the coming years.

Come along to the next 18th Century Market!
