How’s it going Vaasa Region?

Ruukinkartanon vanhainkoti, Vaasa.Pretty good, thanks for asking. Studies show that the region´s population is happy. We live longer, we feel safe and we keep in touch with our neighbors. The amount of columns of a bar chart that show the region´s strengths are far more, than the ones that point to its weaknesses.

Human’s happiness consists of at least strong social networks, good health and a reasonable income. Our population is healthier compared to other Finnish regions: we schedule less doctor´s appointments, the amount of children within child welfare is lower than in other same sized regions, and our minds stay lively thanks to our active social networks.

When it comes to employment rate, our region is on the leading edge of Finland. Also the wage level is higher than in bigger cities like Tampere and Turku. But when it comes to buying your own terrace house or house, the average prices are lower than in the bigger cities. This means that by living and working in Vaasa, you have more money left over.

Who knows, maybe a part of the region´s well-being comes from our UNESCO world heritage site named Kvarken Archipelago? It is the only world heritage site in Finland and its beautiful nature gives for sure the region some extra energy.
